Funk #49
I was working in a music store (selling guitars and amps, not CD's) for awhile when I was playing in my first real band Poor Man's Field. When the store was slow my buddy Lee and I used to jam on the equipment...
Lee started playing the Funk #49 riff, I loved the song but had never thought about how to play it. He showed me the riff and we jammed on it for awhile.
The next gig I had with Poor Man's Field I played that riff during sound check or warm up . Through the years in every band I have played in since, I have probably played Funk #49 at some point before going on stage.
Thank you Joe Walsh for such a simple yet addictive riff.
1977 with the Eagles
Here's Joe (the year I was born) playing a slowed-down but super funky version with the Eagles.
