From a Double Decker Bus...
We just added "My Friend Marcus" back into the live set last night. I'm writing this from the top of an old, musty double decker tour bus. It's cold and rainy, and it gets dark entirely too early. That's the UK. We're on tour with Biffy Clyro at the moment, and I feel like this song has an unique appeal to their fans. Instrumentally, "Marcus" blurs the lines of early Weezer and Built to Spill. In fact, we spent most our record consciously trying to clone the "Pinkerton" mammoth. I'm not convinced that we landed anywhere close, but we ended up with songs that have taken us to places that I never thought I would be visiting. As our driver Stevie races the bus through the rain, we'll be back in Leeds soon. I wonder if they've finished construction outside the City Inn that we always stay at.
